the readers of the TELEGRAPH are indebted to the vigorous and facile pen of our 
young fellow-townsman, Capt. W. W. Farmer, who during the Editor's absence has taken 
control of these columns.

NOTE: Captain William W. Farmer, a veteran of the War Between the States, was a 
native of Union Parish Louisiana, being the grandson of pioneer settler Mills 
Farmer. Captain Farmer was the son of Lt. Gov. William Wood Farmer.
