1868 Louisiana Constitution Election in Shiloh, Union Parish Louisiana

Shiloh precinct, in the parish of Union, polled 235 votes against the Constitution and 
not one for it. The negroes took a decided stand for the Democratic ticket, and 
electioneered for it openly.

NOTE: 
There were several elections in Louisiana in 1868. This one in the spring was to 
ratify the new Louisiana Constitution. The presidential election was held the 
following November.
