Dick Auld Hangs Himself While Playing on his Father's Farm, Union Parish Louisiana

Dick Auld, 11 years old, and a son of J. T. Auld, a respected citizen of Union parish, 
hung himself while playing with a rope in his father's farm last evening.  He had 
never expressed a desire to end his life, and the act is thought to have been purely 
accidental.

NOTE: Dick Auld was almost certainly the son of John Jordan Auld, despite the middle 
initial being incorrect. J. J. Auld was the only male Auld living in Union Parish 
with a son the right age to match Dick. 

John Jordan Auld [Jurd] (15 Oct 1831 – 3 Jan 1905) married in about 1854 in Union 
Parish Louisiana to Louisa Ann Lee [Louann, Lucie Ann] (27 Sept 1837 – 26 Apr 1888). 
Their seventh child was Elijah Martin Auld [Dick] (3 Apr 1871 – 5 Sept 1882).
