McCroome, Union Parish Louisiana From the New Orleans "Times Picayune", issue of 6 May 1885 ================================================================================== ================================================================================== NOTE: The Lonewell Post Office opened in northern Union Parish Louisiana on 20 November 1867, with James H. McBroom as postmaster. He served as the only postmaster of this office, which remained open until 17 December 1884. McBroom lived north of the village of Laran, located about 1.5 miles south of the Arkansas/Louisiana state line. It was several miles east of Spearsville and close to the village of Cherry Ridge. The article below repeatedly refers to the post office as "Lovewell", but this is a mistake and should be "Lonewell". ================================================================================== ================================================================================== MONROE...
