   Announcing a recent discovery of iron ore, the Farmerville Gazette observes:

   “The above information from one of our correspondents, a thoroughly reliable 
man, is proof of what we lately asserted at Shreveport:  that Union parish would 
be found the richest in minerals and coal of any of the parishes in the State.  
To our mineral wealth is added superior chalybeate springs, north of the D’Arbonne, 
possessing medical properties, and pure spring and well water throughout the whole 
parish.  All that we need is the energy and capital to develop our latent resources.”
