E. Trimble, editor of the Farmerville "Gazette", and Mr. J. R. Ramsey, a prominent citizen of Union parish being killed. A special to the "Times-Democrat" says: "There had been trouble brewing between the two men for some time, and a personal difficulty between them had been expected. They met in the street to-day and at once drew revolvers and opened fire upon each other. Each shot with fatal accuracy, and both fell dead in the street. This deplorable affair is the result of political differences between the two gentlemen. Judge Trimble has supported Gov. McEnery in teh present contest, while Mr. Ramsey has been for Gen. Nicholls. At the Nicholls meeting in Farmerville Mr. Ramsey presided, and in the course of his remarks reflected upon Judge Trimble's present and past political course. Judge Trimble resented Mr. Ramsey's statements in the next issue of the "Gazette" and denounced him in severe terms. In rely Mr. Ramsey published a card denying the charges made by Judge Trimble and making countercharges. To this Trimble made a sharp reply in his paper, which brought the controversy to a close. This was two or three weeks ago. The fatal encounter to-day was the result of the bitter feeling engendered by the controversy." ###############################################################################
