Farmersville, La., Dec. 20 — A most unfortunate personal difficulty occurred here last evening by which two of the most prominent citizens of this place lost their lives. There had been bad blood between Judge J. E. Trimble and James A. Ramsey for some time, and this had been added to by a personal question involving the veracity of one or both of the men. They met last evening at the front door of J. Stein & Co.’s store. Hot words were spoken and both drew their pistols. Five or six shots were fired and then Judge Trimble and Mr. Ramsey were both seen to fall dead. Both men leave families. There was a large crowd present at the time of the shooting, and it is a wonder that no one was struck by a stray bullet. Col. Ed Jones, bother of Collector Jones, had a hole torn in his coat by one of the bullets. ================================================================================== ================================================================================== From "The Clarion", a newspaper published in Jackson, Mississippi Issue of 21 December 1887 ================================================================================== ================================================================================== An impromptu duel between Judge J.
