The origin of the fire is unknown, but it is supposed the cotton caught fire from sparks from the smoke stacks of the boat. The steamer was a new one being built several years ago by Capt. H. W. Vaughan at Monroe and was purchased last year by Capt. H. M. Williams. The destruction of this steamer will be a great loss to the bayou trade. We are not informed whether there was any insurance on the boat. ###########################################################
