Ruffin Golson Pleasant, Native of Shiloh, Union Parish Louisiana From New Orleans "Times Picayune", issue of 14 August 1897 ================================================================================== ================================================================================== CAMP FOSTER IS A WARM PLACE. Lieutenant Colonel R. G. Pleasants is a native of Union parish, where he was born in 1872 at Shiloh. He was educated at the State University of Louisiana, where he graduated in 1894, and where he taught in 1895-96, since which time he has had one year’s course in law at Yale College, and will return to the State University as a member of the faculty the coming year. He graduated as adjutant of the Cadet Corps, and has since been appointed as major on Governor Foster’s staff, and was promoted to Lieutenant colonel of the First Regiment. He was at the encampment last year as lieutenant colonel. He is to be a lawyer by profession, and will later return to Yale College, where he expects to complete his legal education. In the meantime, he is studying the civil law of Louisiana. ================================================================================== ================================================================================== NOTE: Ruffin G. Pleasant (2 June 1871 - 12 Sept 1937) served as Louisiana's Attorney General before being elected as governor in 1916.
