H. McLaurin, of Shiloh, was in town Friday. Regarding our sister city's railroad, he says the surveyors were in Shiloh last week and taht they find they can get a good entrance into the town near the Academy building, about a quarter of a mile from the business portion of the village. Mr. McLaurin says he is confident that the tax will be voted on the 5th prox., and Capt. Henderson promisies to begin work as soon as that is done. ================================================================================= NOTE: Despite Mr. McLaurin's hopes for a railroad through Shiloh, the rail line was laid a few mile west of the village. In addition, Shiloh's business district burned to the ground on 22 March 1899. These two tragic events spelled doom for Shiloh, as business soon moved west to the railroad and the new Village of Bernice. ###############################################################################
