G. Trimble, member of the executive committee, is a true son of Louisiana. Born and reared in Farmerville, La., he has, with the exception of two years at college spent his whole life there in the up building of Union parish in particular and the state of Louisiana in general. He is a son of the late Judge J. E. Trimble, who was one of the most prominent attorneys of north Louisiana. He received his education at the State University at Baton Rouge, and on his return from college he entered the Gazette office, owned by his father, and there learned the printing business, serving in all capacities, from devil up. Upon the death of his father in 1887, and while he was yet a mere youth, he assumed the editorship of the Gazette, and in connection with his two brothers, S. C. and W. L. Trimble, the entire management of the paper. With the exception of four years, which he spent in the mercantile business in his native town, Mr. Trimble has continued to publish the Farmerville Gazette, and has kept it up to the high standard to which his father had raised it before him. Realizing that the press is one of the most potent factors of modern civilization, he has always, through the columns of the Gazette, championed the high principles of morality, truth and progress. Though a staunch Democrat in political beliefs, he has always place right about party, and where the two have connected he has strongly battle for the former. At home and abroad he has the reputation of being a man of firm convictions and living up to them; therefore, he has the unbounded confidence ofall with home he comes in contact. For the past five years he has been a member of the Louisiana Press Association, and is now serving his second term as treasurer of tat organization.
