Joking Remark of Louisiana man is Blamed for Stabbing Shreveport, La., Sept. 14—A Special to the Times from Monroe, La., says Edward Caldwell, a prominent citizen of that place, was stabbed to death by Marshall Johnson of Union Parish, in the public road, one mile from Monroe, this afternoon. The men were friends and had been joking each other. Johnson became angry about something Caldwell said and demanded that he retract it. Caldwell refused and was stabbed near the heart, death resulting almost instantly.
