Randolph, La. _________ Randolph, La. Aug 31. Perhaps some of you are not acquainted with this place, so I will try to tell you where it is. Randolph is three miles from the Arkansas line, in Union Parish, on the rock Island railroad in the swamps of Little Corinne Cree. The crawfish build in our yard, and the mosquitoes almost carry us off, sometimes. This is a sawmill town, owned by a large company known as the Summit Lumber Company. No one owns their home and all are working people. There is not much society here. We have a church and school house combined. There has been a summer school in session, but it closed Friday. There have been two good meetings held here this summer. We have been thinking of visiting in Texas this summer, but could not get relief, so we will have to just stay here and work on like we have for the past two years without any relief. It is real bad to be railroad people here, in this part of the world. No one ever wants your job long enough to let you rest a little. Well, I won’t tell any of the happenings, as it wouldn’t be of interest to any of your readers. Goodwin, I know you, and like your letters. Where is our Paradise friend? Wish someone would write from there and from Carrollton, as I have lived at both places. If this escapes the waste basket, I may write again. As news is scarce, I will ring off and let a more gifted one have my place.
