Shreveport Mayor’s Mother 91 Years Old

   SHREVEPORT, La., Jan. 8  (Sp)  –  Mrs. S. S. Thomas, 91 years old, mother of Mayor 
L. E. Thomas of Shreveport, observed her birthday anniversary Jan. 6 at the old family 
home at Marion, Union Parish.  Her husband, the late B. B. Thomas, was engaged in the 
mercantile business at Marion and Alabama Landing, Union Parish, more than half a century.  
Mayor and Mrs. Thomas went to Marion this week to spend the weekend.

NOTE: Susan S. George (6 Jan 1836 - 13 Sept 1928), daughter of Rev. Elias George, 
married Burrell B. Thomas (17 Sept 1835 - 4 Apr 1915) on 24 October 1854 in Union Parish. 
Thomas worked as a merchant in Marion for his adult life.
