C. ROCKETT, GOOD COTTON PICKER AT 80 ------ Our good friend, Mr. J. C. Rockett, was in town the other day and we chanced to have a little conversation with him. He had read in The Gazette about these old men picking cotton and showing their records as cotton pickers through these columns. Mr. Rockett, too, would like to be enlisted as one of the "young" boys of advanced age who are good pickers in this parish. He informed us that, on Aug. 31, he picked 164 pounds. And he is 80 years of age, remember. "Uncle Joe" as he is familiarily called by his countless friends lived in the Camp Creek community. He has been one of Union's leading citizens for a long time. Here's wishing him many years yet to enjoy among his earthly associates. ###############################################################################
