P. "Izzie" Breazeal of Lillie, La. who has just completed his job as a rural letter carrier no. 1 out of the Lillie Post Office, was held at the Home Ec Cottage in Spearsville last Friday night, Jan. 28th, with the office Force being hosts. Besides the honoree and his wife, other special guests were Mr. and Mrs. Guy Ludwig of Farmerville, and Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Grittith of Chatham. Mr. Ludwig is a carrier out of Farmerville and Mr. Griffith is District Sect. of the Rural Letter Carriers Association. Jack Griffon, toastmaster, presented Mr. Breazeal with an Elgin watch, a gift from all the office employees. A shirt was given by the visiting carrier. Mrs. Clyde Cherry, for the auxiliary, presented Mrs. Breazeal with a lovely pin with the cute statement, "Back of every successful man, is a woman". Mr. Breazeal has kept a daily record of his service and was able to give an exact account of the work and money envolved [sic]. He was appointed May 26, 1919. Served 35 years, 8 months and 5 days, made 10,343 trips, traveling 341,319 miles. He carried the mail on horseback, buggy, mail cart and owned 16 automobiles which cost him $15,956.99. Handled approximately 2,068,600 pieces of mail. It is with regret the Postoffice Force loses Mr. Breazeal for he was a most highly valued employee. His route is being consolidated with route no. 3 and route 4, served by Clyde Cherry and Jack Griffon. The luncheon consisted of a delicious meal - chicken, jellied salad, spaghetti, pickles, pie and coffee which was enjoyed by Postmaster C. C. Barron and wife, Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Farrar, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Cherry, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Griffon, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Cole, Mr. and Mrs. Glover Rockett, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Farrar, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Mixon and Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Nelson. ================================================================================== NOTE: Izariah Paul Breazeal (18 Jan 1885 - 14 Oct 1979) was the son of Hosea Woodford Breazeal (1857 - 1936) and Angeline Williams (1865 - 1940).
