"Farmerville Gazette, May 7: Last Wednesday night Rev. Elias George, one of the oldest and 
most highly respected citizens of Union parish, passed peacefully away in the cold embrace 
of death, at the residence of his son, Mr. Elias George, Jr., ten miles north of Farmerville. 
The deceased lived to the ripe old age of 85 years. He leaves a number of grown-up children, 
who are among the best and most worthy citizens of Union parish, to mourn his loss.
