He was taken ill Friday with a chill, but nothing serious was thought of his condition until Sunday evening, when he lost consciousness and began to sink rapidly. He was seventy-three years of age and had not been in good health for several years. He was formerly a resident of Ouachita parish, but moved to this place three or four years ago. He leaves a large circle of relatives and friends in this and Ouachita parish to mourn his death. THE GAZETTE extends sympathy to the grief stricken family. His remains were interred in the cemetery at this place Tuesday evening. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: Since this paper was published on Wednesday, "Monday" puts Pace's death as occurring on 23 April 1894. His tombstone in the Farmerville Cemetery gives his name as James F. Pace, born 29 January 1821 in Stewart County Georgia. His tombstone apparently gives his death date as April 25 rather than the 23rd, although the newspaper seems more reliable. #################################################################################
