Boatright died this week." [Note: Jane E. Stiles Boatright was the widow of James Boatright (1822 - 1862), son of Union Parish early settler and police juror Powhatan Boatright. James Boatright died in Jackson, MS during the War Between the States, leaving Jane with a large family of children to raise alone. The phrase "this week" presumably indicates that she died since the last issue of the paper, or between 29 July and 4 Aug 1896. But they normally say "yesterday" or "Monday" when referring to just a day or two ago, so I think she must have died over the weekend or the end of the previous week. # # #
