The good Lord has seen fit, in His wise providence, to remove another bright and lovely bud from this earth to heaven, there to bloom forevermore. This bud was plucked when he began to be so interesting. He was of a sweet and [illegible word] disposition and he carried about him the charm of loveliness. His afflictions were severe but he bore them with patience and resignation. A few days previous to his last illness he said to his mother, "Mamma, if I were to die would not I go to heaven where little Alford (his brother) is?" Oh, what a hard struggle it was for the mother to give up her precious son, that which was nearest and dearest to her of anything on earth. While his place is facated around the family circle he fills a place in heaven. Oh, how that little voice and sweet smile is missed. He has gone to rest, for Christ said, "Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not, for of such is the kingdom of heaven." The lovely boy the mother so foundly kissed a short time since, is not here this morning. The golden chain of life was broken and his pure spirit winged its way to "that beautiful city of light" where loved ones meet to part no more. To his bereaved ones we say mourn not, for he has gone to that better land, where trials, pain and sorrow are feared no more. Anothe rlink hs been added to the golden chain to draw you heavenward. Good bye, sweet, precious little boy, till we meet again. HIS TEACHER. ================================================================================== ================================================================================== File posted at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/la/union/obits/1896mcfatter.txt ################################################################################
