"Mrs. Francis Goyne, an old resident of ward 8, died last Friday."

[Note: Frances Boatright Pearson Goyne was the daughter of Powhatan Boatright. 
She first married Thomas Pearson, who died in 1869, and about 1871 or 1872 she 
married to William Goyne. They lived in the Shiloh neighborhood. The phrase "last 
Friday" indicates that she died on 9 April 1897.]
