  Mr. E. R. Parks, a well-known farmer who formerly lived near Ouachita, Union 
parish, died at Rayville on January 5th, after a lingering seige with slow fever.

NOTE: In 1880, Eli R. Parks, a while male born about 1857, lived in Ward 2. He 
worked as a farmer. He had a wife, Mary I. Parks, born about 1864. It is 
unclear if this Eli R. Parks is the same man, but it probably is.
