To the officers and members of Pelican Lodge No. 17, K of P. We your committee appointed to draft resolutions as a tribute to the memory of our brother, J. D. Everett, beg to submit the following: Whereas, The angel of death has again entered our sared portals and called from among us our brother, James D. Everett; Resolved, That in the death of our brother our community has lost one of its truest and best citizens and our lodge and order a faithful, valiant knight whose life was an exemplification of those cardinal virtues - friendship, charity and benevolence. Resolved, That our lodge join in the procession of other orders, civic, religious and fraternal, in expressions of profound sorrow at the departure of our brohter, whose associations with us have always been most pleasant, and whose untimely death has made vacant another chair in our Castle Hall, only to be filled at the last great gathering of Pythian Knights in the Supreme Coucil eternal. Resolved, That our lodge will ever cherish the memory of our brother, and extend our fraternal greetings and sympathy to his grief-stricken wife, and its arm of protection to the little orphans. Resolved, That our Castle Hall be draped with the usual sign of mourning for thirty days, and a copy of these resolutions be sent to the wife of our brother and published in THE GAZETTE and, the Herald, and same be inscribed on a page of our record book set apart to his memory.
