R. Andrews of Meridian Baptist Church, Union Parish Louisiana From the Farmerville "Gazette"; issue of Wednesday, 4 April 1900, page 2, column 5 ================================================================================== ================================================================================== Resolutions of Respect. ---------- Bro. J. R. Andrews was born Nov. 19, 1856, joined the Missionary Baptist church of Christ at Meridian in September 1878, and remained a faithful member until his death. God in His infinite mercy on November 16, 1899, removed from the walks of life and from amongst relatives and hosts of admiring friends to the great beyond our beloved brother. He was a true christian, a noble and generous man; he was always ready to work for the comfort of those around him. He was charitable and loving in disposition, and lived a life of usefulness, and has gone to live with the bright host of heaven. His good works will be remembered by us for many days to come. He will be greatly missed in his church, community, and more especially around the fireside of his dear companion and little children. Death was sweet to him after much suffering. We believe he crossed the river of death safely, and is resting from his labor. He has gone to receive the crown of righteousness laid up for him. Resolved, that we, the members of Meridian church, realize the loss we sustain in the death of our brother. Resolved, that we hereby express our heartfelt sympathy to his bereaved family. J. M. OLIVER, W. W. COBB, J. M. COOPER, Committee. ###############################################################################
