B. Smith of Meridian Baptist Church, Union Parish Louisiana From the Farmerville "Gazette"; issue of Wednesday, 4 April 1900, page 3, column 3 ================================================================================== ================================================================================== In Memory of Bro. W. B. Smith: ---------- It is with subdued grief and softened sorrow that we behold the ripe sheaf garnered by the sickle of death. Bro. W. B. Smith was born on July 26, 1862, and joined the Missionary Baptist church of Christ at Meridian in September 1888. On November 25, 1899, he was called to lay down this life of trouble and trials and enter into that home above where trouble and trials are not known. To us, the members of Meridian church, is left a fond remembrance which shall last till time, in its resistless surge, leaves us at the shores of eternity. Deeply do we feel the loss of him who for twelve years fought with us in the battle of christian life. Death seems terrible, but when its gods will to put forth their hands and break the dreams of life, and bid the spirit take its flight to its long sought rest, we must submit without a murmur. Jesus says, "Come ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world." We extend our heartfelt sympathy to the grief stricken ones. J. M. OLIVER, W. W.
