Hall, Union Parish Louisiana ================================================================================== ================================================================================== From the Farmerville "Gazette", issue dated Wednesday, 10 December 1902, page 3 ================================================================================== ================================================================================== Mr. Wm. C. Hall, one of the oldest citizens of Union parish, died Friday morning at his residence three miles northeast of Farmerville, after a painful illness of several weeks. He was in the 82nd year of his age. The deceased leaves a widow and several children, all grown, to mourn his loss. His remains were interred Saturday in the Taylor cemetery with Masonic ceremonies. ================================================================================== ================================================================================== From the Farmerville "Gazette", issue dated Wednesday, 17 December 1902, page 3 ================================================================================== ================================================================================== Dead. ______ William Hall, aged eightn one years, passed away on Friday, Dec. 5, 1902. He left behind a wife, a family of grown children and a host of friends, who followed the bier with heavy hearts and stood around the casket to pay a farewell tribute to the dead. Brother Hall was a member of Union Fraternal Lodge, No. 53, F. and A.M., Farmerville, La. He was always found at his post of duty until he was far advanced in years when his declining health would no longer permit him to attend the regular meetings of the fraternity he loved so well. He had been a Mason for many years - almost since he had reached manhood's estate. He began work with the craft while the flowers were yet fresh in the morning dew; he toiled on during the meridian of life, and in later years when his life's journey was nearing a close, he continued to live the life of a Mason. This good Brother helped to build a temple of justice here among his fellow men, and now he has laid aside the working tools of his profession to take up his abode in that mansion above, not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. It was his request that his fellow workmen perform the last said rites over his body. And after the last sad office was done, after the last tear was dropped upon the mound of earth, not one wished to have him back again, because all knew that it was the will of the Great Architect of the universe that was being fulfilled. We knew all must meet - death, and that the poet was correct when he said: "Thou shalt lie down with babes and patriarches of the infant world - all in one mighty sepulchre." C. H. Murphy, J. M. Underwood, John Roaten, Committee ================================================================================== ================================================================================== NOTE: William C.
