S. Slawson, Union Parish Louisiana From the Farmerville "Gazette", issue dated Wednesday, 2 April 1902, page 3 ================================================================================== ================================================================================== Two serious accidents happened near Farmerville yesterday. A grown young lady, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Scarborough, was badly burned, her clothes catching fire while she was building up a smoke to drive gnats from the cattle. A little boy, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. S. Slawson, fell in a tub of boiling water and was seriously scalded. Both the patients are in a critical condition. Just as we go to press we learn that both the above victims died. ================================================================================== ================================================================================== NOTE: Mattie Jane Scarborough (22 Sept 1881 - 2 Apr 1902) was the daughter of Matthew Addison Scarborough (4 June 1850 - 19 Mar 1931) and his wife, Clarinda Jane Ham (25 Oct 1854 - 23 July 1902). They lived in the neighborhood along the Ward's Chapel Road, some seven miles east of Farmerville. Mattie's mother died a few months later of consumption. ================================================================================== ================================================================================== File posted at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/la/union/obits/1902scarborough-slawson.txt ################################################################################
