Miss Rachel Beaird, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Beaird died Sept 25 1904, aged 18 yrs 5 mos and 10 days. This bright star was extinguished just as it was budding into womanhood. She was a sweet christian girl, a member of the Baptist church at Mt. Union. Grieve not for her, fond parents though a link has been severed from the family circle. She has only gone on to welcome you to the pearly gates. While we cannot always understand Gods workings, but we are made to feel this affliction is divine. She left evidence to all that she was warned of death before the summons came, and died perfectly reconciled, writing the following verses just before she was taken sick. "Friends dear friends, when it shall be. That this weak breath has gone from me. And 'round my bed you come to weep. Let one most loving of you all Say not one tear over me shall fall." Her pastor, H. T. Smith ###########################################################
