C. Rockett, and claimed as his own, their baby girl, Lettie. She was born December, 9th, 1897, and died Jan. 19th, 1916. Age 18 years, 1 month and 10 days. All that loving hands could do for her was of no avail, for God, in his kingdom, had claimed her, where he has a place for her better than we could give. It was so hard to give up Lettie, but we all know, that she is safely residing in the arms of the blessed Saviour. Weep not dear parents, do not grieve so for her, for we know that she is safe, where no harm can ever come, and that some sweet day we shall all be reunited in that home, where no parting can ever come. Where we shall alway be happy with our loved ones. It was so hard to give her up, but with breaking hearts, we had to say good-bye. Lay away her things, wet with mother's pearly tears. How we shall miss Lettie through the coming, weary years! Gone from us is that bright jewel, that our heavenly father gave. Now we can only scatter flowers on our darling Lettie's grave. A Friend. ===================================================================================== NOTE: Lettie Rockett was the youngest child of Joseph Cannon Rockett (14 Nov 1847 – 11 Apr 1929) and Mary Elizabeth Howell (23 Feb 1857 – 13 Mar 1945). In January 1916, Lettie was in her nightgown in front of the fire in her parent's home. A spark caused her nightgown to catch on fire, and she ran. She died from the resulting burns.
