A. Dean of this Ward Killed Almost Instantly When Thrown From Wagon. One of the saddest accidents ever recorded in this community occurred about 4 o'clock last Friday afternoon, Autust 1st, when Mr. T. A. Dean, one of our oldest and best citizens, was almost instantly killed by being thrown from his wagon when his team of mules ran away. Mr. Dean, accompanied by his daughter, had gone in his wagon to a singing at Hopewell. They were returning home. Not very far from his house his mules became frightened at a calf beside the road and made a dash throwing Mr. Dean from the wagon against a tree. Dr. Taylor, who was already in the neighborhood making a call, was hurried to the scene. He arrived in a few minutes after it happened and found that almost all the ribs on the right side were broken and the side crushed in. Mr. Dean was hurried to the house where he died in about forty minutes. Mr. Dean was 73 years of age. He had been a life-long resident of this parish and of this ward.
