GRANDFATHER OF LOCAL LADY DIED THURS, AUG. 19

William Henry Craven, 90, died August 19, at 7 o'clock at the home of his
son, Joe Craven in Arcadia, after an illness of about 6 weeks.

Mr. Craven was a lifelong resident of Union parish near Oakland, La. and
Strong, Ark, until the past two years, which he spent in Arcadia, making his
home with his son.  He was an active member of the Good Hope Baptist church
near Strong, Ark. For many years.

He is the father of 14 children, of whom 13 survive, including six sons, 
John, the oldest who is 71 years of age; John, James and Myles Craven of
Eudora, Ark.; Fulton Craven, Selma, California; Joe Craven of Arcadia 
and Hardie Craven of Crowville; seven daughters, Mrs. Jim Day, Selma, 
Calif.; Mrs. Bob Day, Marion; Mrs. Perston Gilmore, Minden; Mrs. Larkin
Gilmore, El Dorado, Ark.; Mrs. N. L. Johnston of Eros and Mrs. Fred
Carrington and Miss Cedonieth Craven of Hot Springs, Ark.    Fifty-two
grandchildren, many great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren
also survive.

Miss C. Craven of Hot Springs is a former resident and will be remembered by
her friends here, who will extend sympathy to her in the loss of her 
father.    The deceased was also the grandfather to a local lady, Mrs. Pat
Richardson.

William Henry Craven died on August 19, 1948 and is buried at Good Hope
Cemetery south of Strong, AR.   He was born on July 22, 1858, the son of
John Henry Craven and Nancy Cole and married Joanna Poole, daughter of
Hardy Garrison "Frost" Poole and Susan Rebecca Gathright.

John Henry Craven, b. October 15, 1877 - d. March 8, 1962. He m. 1. Unknown
name, 2. Mattie Day on November 17, 1898 in Union Parish, LA

James Craven, b. June 22, 1881 in Strong, Union County, AR - d. December
20, 1978 in Alexandria, LA.  He m. Hattie Johnson.

Hardie K. Craven, b. November 20 1882 in El Dorado, AR - d. unknown date.
He m. Pinkie Williams.

Annie Rebecca Craven, b. March 3, 1884 - d. about 1971. She m. Preston
Gilmore on December 21, 1899 in El Dorado. AR.

Miles Harrison Craven, b. September 5, 1886 in Strong, AR. - d. April 9, 
1969 in Eudora, AR.   He m. Sarah Versie Farrar on March 3, 1906.

Mary Elizabeth Craven, b. August 3, 1887 - d. February 15, 1962 in Strong,
AR.  She m. Nealy L. Johnston.

Susan Parilee Craven, b. November 18, 1888 - d. June 29, 1932.   She m. 
Rufes Larkin Gilmore.

Stella Craven, b. September 2, 1891 - d. June 17, 1971.  She m. Bob Day.

Sally Avery Craven, b. October 1893 - d. Unknown date.   She m. Jim Day.

Ethel Jackson Craven, b. March 10, 1894 - d. June 15, 1978.   She m.
Fred Carrington.

Fulton Eugene Craven, b. October 3, 1895 in AR - d. in CA.   He m. Salley
Brown.

Joe Scott Craven, b. October 11, 1897 - d. Unknown date.   He m. Martha
__?__.

Martha Ellen Craven, b. July 22, 1900 - d. January 19, 1901.

Cedonieth Craven, b. June 20, 1903 - d. Unknown date.   She never married.
