Information from the Funeral Book for John Richard McGarity.  He was born with the 
name of Uriah William McGarity, but his parents changed it after the Civil War.  
Apparently, John Richard's uncle Uriah William McGarity (who he was named for) was 
a deserter, which disgraced the family.  So, they changed Uriah William to John 
Richard McGarity.
