A. Dawson, 72, Dies at Denton DENTON, Texas – W. A. Dawson, 72, manager of the North Texas Burial Association, died about noon Monday after suffering a heart attack. He was stricken while working in his office and died shortly after reaching a hospital. Dawson was a native of Bernice, La., and moved to Midland when he was a young man. In Midland he engaged in the mercantile business for 18 years and served as mayor for eight years. He lived in Abilene eight years before coming to Denton in 1932. He assisted the late V. W. Shepard in organizing the burial association in 1941. He also engaged in the insurance business here for nine years. Dawson was a director of the State Board of Burial Insurance Association, a member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge, the Masonic Lodge, and the Grace Temple Baptist Church. He was married to Miss Lurienin Fleming, daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. H. G. Fleming of Denton in 1913. Funeral arrangements are pending with the Schmitz-Floyd-Hamlett funeral home. Survivors include his wife; two sons, W. A. Dawson, Jr. of Garland, a teacher in the Wyulie School; David F. F. Dawson of Austin, teach in the University of Texas; a daughter, Mrs. Joe N.
