This is from the collection of the late Ora Ward Manning, the mother of Peggy Rockett. Mrs. Ruth D. Ward died in December 1980. Mrs. Ruth D. Ward Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Day Ward, 70, of Marion, were held at 2 p.m. last Wednesday in Farrar Funeral home Chapel in Farmerville with the Rev. Roger Johnson officiating. Interment followed in Mt. Union Cemetery near Spearsville. Mrs. Ward died last Monday in her residence after a short illness. A native of Union Parish, she was a member of the Fairbanks Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, T.A. Ward of Marion; four sons, Kermit Ward of Bangor, Maine, Gayle Ward of New Orleans, Ralph Ward of West Monroe, and Ken Ward of West Monroe; two daughters, Mrs. Vernard "Jerry" Utley of Altus, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Finley "Shirley" Corkern of Baton Rouge; a brother, Donald Day of Marion, two sisters, Mrs. Audrey Bennett of West Monroe, and Mrs. Najarta Smith of New Orleans; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were R.N. Lanningham, Steve Struben, Robert Bass, Zeke Leake, Marvin Moon, and Wilbur Rogers. # # #
