Gilmer, Texas The Gilmer Mirror Funeral services for Herman Arleigh Ward, 70, of Kelsey were held at 10am Monday, November 19, 1985 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, in Gilmer. Officiating were Ricky Tefteller. Also presiding were Bishop Anthony Bryant, Rogene Pritchett, Earl Warren, and Eugene Hall. Providing the music were Oscar Redding, Dave Ashworth, Lloyd Owens,Jeannings Means, and Debra Owens. Burial was at the Kelsey Cemetery and under the direction of Croley Funeral Home. Mr. Ward died suddenly Friday, November 16 at his home. He was a resident of the Kelsey Community most of his life. He was born April 10, 1914 in Farmerville, Union, Louisiana to Henry Oscar Ward and Jossie Veola Pardue Ward. He was a retired paint contractor and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Gilmer Ward 1. He married Edith Ozell Harris on March 20, 1937 in Gilmer, Upshur, Texas and she survives him. A son Harold Arleigh Ward proceeded him in death. He is survived by seven sons, Herman Ward, Ocoho Ward, Elwyn Ward, and Kevin Ward all of Gilmer. David Ward of East Mountain, Randy Ward of Pine Tree, and Fred Ward of Waco. Five daughters, Virginia Denton, Lana Smith, and Janice Ward all of Gilmer, Judy White of Overton and JoAnn McBride of Waco. Two sisters Geneva Chevalier Aulds, of Farmerville, and Elnora Denton, of Gilmer. 30 grand children and 1 great grand child. Pallbearers were his seven sons, Herman Oscar, Ocoho, David, Randy, Elwyn, Kevin and Fred Ward, also grand son Barry Ward. Honorary pallbearers were all his grandsons, Dan, Larry, Roger, Robert, Roy, Ben, Brent, Bradley, Daniel, Michael, Richard, Gary and Scott Ward, Alan, Chris, and Matt Denton, Trey White, and Paul Smith.
