This is from the collection of Peggy Rockett. Mrs. Patton died in 1991. Mrs. Velma G. Patton Services for Mrs. Velma Garris Patton, 88, of Downsville, were held Sunday, February 24, at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church with the Rev. Floyd Pate and the Rev. Joe Cannon officiating. Burial will follow in the Camp Creek Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville. Mrs. Patton died February 21, at Union General Hospital after a brief illness. She was a resident of Downsville for the past 18 years, member of Mt. Ararat Baptist church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie E. Patton; a son Warner Leon Patton; a daughter Cecil Elouise Cooper and a grandson Michael Lee Dyer. Survivors include three sons, James Guy Patton of Keithville, Edward Patton of Atlanta, Georgia and Billy Joe Patton of Bernice; eight daughters, Marjorie Kennedy of Bossier City, Verna Lou White of Shreveport, Virginia White of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Velta Deloris Frantom, Shirely Dyer of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Avis Ford of West Monroe, Dyann Shaw of West Monroe, and Eunice Odom of Overton, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Madie Dupriest of Little Rock; 47 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Buddy Patton, Roger Patton, Tony white, Eddy Patton, Bendal White, Bill Waller, and Jody Patton. # # #
