This is from the collection of Peggy Rockett. Mr. Carl D. Elkins, Sr. Services for Mr. Carl Elkins, Sr. 88, of Spearsville, were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April, 2, 1993 at Mt. Union Baptist Church with Rev. Forrest Post officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville. Mr. Elkins died Wednesday, March 31, 1993, at Tri-Ward Hospital in Bernice after a lengthy illness. He was a lifelong resident of Union Parish, a deacon of Mt. Union Baptist Church and a retired farmer. He was a retired Board of Directors of Claiborne Electric Co-op. Mr. Elkins was preceded in death by his wife Faye Wade Elkins. Survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law, Carl Elkins, Jr. and Elaine of Bossier City, Dale Elkins and Dorris, Bobby Elkins and Elizabeth, Hez Elkins and Sunshine, Tom Elkins and Pat, all of Spearsville; a daughter and son-in-law, Ruby day Misenheimer and James of Springhill; a brother, Argo Elkins of Famerville; a sister, Minnie Lou Moring of Spearsville; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren. Grandsons served as pallbearers. # # #
