This is from the collection of Peggy Manning Rockett. James E. Bearden Services for Mr. James Everette Bearden, 62 of Downsville, were held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, September 22, 1994 at Mt. Nebo Methodist Church, with Rev. Jerry Whitman and Rev. Joe Cannon officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville. Mr. Bearden died Tuesday, September 20 at L.S.U. Medical Center in Shreveport after a brief illness. He was a lifelong resident of Union Parish, member of Mt. Nebo Methodist Church, a retired carpenter and currently employed by the Holmesville Water System. He was preceded in death by his parents Eula and Doc Bearden and a brother, Roy Skains. Survivors include his wife Christine Doster Bearden of Downsville; twos sons and daughters-in-law, John and Dana Bearden and Delane and Susie Bearden all of Downsville; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Donny Alford of Downsville; three brothers, Elhannon Bearden of Lake Charles, Lafayette Skains of Hodge, and Garland Bearden of Wilhite; five sisters, Pauline Taylor, Aline Baker, and Dorothy Brantley all of Downsville, Genell Meacham of Shreveport and May Smith of Lawrenceville, Georgia; ten grandchildren. Pallbearers were Bob Riser, Robert Aswell, James Cox, Richard Bridges, Richard Long, and Carl Taylor. # # #
