This is from the collection of Peggy Rockett. Varna L. Davis Services for Mr. Varna L. Davis, 85, of Lockhart, were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 25, 1994 at Lockhart Church Christ with Don DeLukie officiating, assisted by F.C. Bailey. Burial followed in the Antioch Church Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home. Mr. Davis died Tuesday, February 22, at Oak Ridge Nursing Home in Eldorado after a lengthy illness. He was a lifelong resident of Union Parish, a member of Lockhart Church of Christ and served as schoolteacher and administrator in the Union Parish School System for 40 years. Mr. Davis was a graduate of Spearsville High School and Harding University, was honored as the Farm Bureau Outstanding Lumber Producer in 1978-1979, served as an elder at Lockhart Church of Christ for more than 40 years and served on the Board of Directors at Tri-Ward Hospital and Union State Bank in Junction City. Survivors include his wife, Opal Holloway Davis of Lockhart; a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy Lane Davis and wife Pat of West Monroe; a daughter and son-in-law, Janis Kay Stegall and husband Ken of Eldorado, a sister, Gladys Seale of Lockhart; eight grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. # # #
