The Longview Morning Journal March 1995 Elvin Denton 1914 - 1995 Funeral services for Elvin Denton, 80, of Gilmer were set for 2 p.m. Saturday, March 4, at Croley Chapel. Bishop Blanton Dawson was to officiate, with burial to be at Kelsey Cemetery. Mr Denton died Thursday, March 2, in Gilmer. Mr. Denton was a life long resident of Upshur County, he was born Nov. 27,1914. He was a retired pumper with Exxon and was a member of thThe Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a World War II Army Vet. He married the former Elnora Ward in 1937 in Mount Pleasant, and she survives. Alson surviving are four sons, LaGrand Denton, New Caney, Lowell Denton, Gilmer, Ronald Denton, Longview and Gary Denton, Ore City, two daughters Glenda Moseley, Diana, Gwen Rancilio, Gilmer, two sisters Zelma Alexander of Chandler , AZ., Bea Myres of Mesa, AZ. 16 Grand children and 21 greats.
