This is from the collection of Peggy Rockett. L. H. McVicker Farmerville, LA - Services for Mr. L.H. McVicker, age 83, will be at 10 AM Friday, January 1, 1998 at Conway Baptist Church of Farmerville, with Bro. Maurice Cotton, Bro. J.E. Brown, and Bro. George Leonard officiating. Interment will immediately follow at the Conway Cemetery. Mr., McVicker was born on May 14, 1915 and went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 30, 1997. Mr. McVicker was a lifelong resident of Union Parish and a member and Deacon of Conway Baptist Church for 70 years also serving as Brotherhood President. He was a member of the Men's Sunday School Class, Director of Sunday School for 35 years, and Chairman of the Board of Deacons for 22 years. Mr. McVicker served in CCC Company 4409 for 6 1/2 years as a local experienced man and was also a veteran of World War II where he served as Staff Supply Sergeant. Mr. McVicker was an employee with the IMC Chemical Plant in Sterlington from which he retired. He was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 149 for 52 years. Being an avid sportsman, Mr. McVicker was also a "Hall of Fame Squirrel Hunter". Mr. McVicker was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Nina McVicker; one brother, Everett McVicker; four sisters, Lois McVicker, Fannie M. Albritton, and Shirley M. Hayes, and Aline M. Law. Survivors include his wife; Vivian McVicker of Farmerville; one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Jim Cerny of Tampa, FL, grandson Kent Cerny of Nashua, New Hampshire; granddaughter, Terri Rivera of Tamp, FL; grandson; Gary and his wife Doris Cerny of Lakeland, FL; and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Edward Austin, Ferril Albritton, Joe Preaus, Charlie Albritton, Richard Phelps, Jerry Daniels, and Ray Gene Ebarb. Honorary pallbearers will be Milton Tricholl, W.G. Odom, Olan Forbess, Monte Thrailkill, James Malone, Dan Albritton, James D. Hicks, Dennis Blaylock, Jimmy Futch, Wayne Giddens, Wilford Fitzgerald, Melvin Taylor, James Pickel, Sam Ward, Harry Buckley and Mark Preaus. # # #
