Burns, age 81, of Spearsville, LA will be 2:00 PM Monday, September 25, 2000 at Canaan Baptist Church in Spearsville, LA with Dr. Glenn Morgan officiating. Interment will be in Canaan Cemetery in Spearsville, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Bernice. Mr. Burns went to be with the Lord Saturday, September 23, 2000 in Bernice, LA following a lengthy illness. Mr. Burns was a member of Canaan Baptist Church and was are retired Vo Ag school teacher. He served in the U. S. Air Force for over three years and was a veteran of World War 11. Survivors include his wife: Emma Lee Upshaw Burns of Spearsville, LA; son: James E. Burns and wife Pat of Junction City, AR; daughter Christy Hatley and husband Joe of Bernice, LA; three grandchildren: Jo Mark Hatley, Emily Adkins and Lara Burns; three great grandchildren; brother: Van H, Burns of Saline, LA; sister: Alice Durham of Junction City, AR. Pallbearers will be Mark Hatley, Shawnn Adkins, Ronnie Hall, Terry Burns, Jerry Nash and Steve Lawson, Jr. Honorary pallbearer will be Travis Thomas. He was preceded in death by his parents , brothers William Taft Burns, Edward Young 'Chic' Burns and a sister Mary Lou Burns Durham. # # #
