BURTON C. SMITH, JR.

Funeral services for Burton C. Smith, Jr., of Bernice, LA will be held, Saturday, 
July 1 st at 2:00 P. M. at the Hebron Church. 	
Burton C. Smith, JR., died Tuesday, June 27,2000 ,26 days shy of his 88th birthday. 
Mr. Smith was born in 1912 in Winnsboro, LA and raised in Bernice. He was a W.W. II 
veteran, retired poultry farmer and member of the Hebron Church. He spent the last 8 
years with his son-in-law and daughter, Rod and Patricia Doughty in Waxahachie, TX
He is preceded in death by his wife: Evelyn Lucille Smith, his son Kerry Van Smith 
of Las Cruces, N.M., and sister, Thelma Garris of Spearsville, LA
Mr. Smith is survived by three brothers: James C. Smith of Monroe, William C. Smith 
and Russell C. Smith of Bernice; two sisters: Elizabeth Borden of Spearsville, LA and 
Rhedia Mae Skiles of Derrider, LA; two daughters: Patricia Doughty of Waxahachie, TX 
and E. Sue Abbott of Bernice, LA, one son: Burton C. Smith, III of Elida, N.M., 13 
grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
