Submitted by: Hazel Welch Craig.. DOIL HERREN Services for Doil Herren, 76, of Bernice, were Saturday, August 30, 2003, at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Bernice with Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Interment followed in Pine Grove Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Bernice. Mr. Herren went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 28, following a brief illness. He had been a resident of Bernice for fifty years. Doil was manager of ArkLa Gas for many years before retirement. He was a Navy Veteran of WW II, a member of Bernice Volunteer Fire Dept. And Bernice Lions Club. Doil was well known throughout Union Parish. He was always there for anyone needing help. His garden produce will be remembered by many as he was very generous with it. He was preceded in death by his parents F. M. and Vera Herren, brother Cecil and a nephew, Michael Hall. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Barbara Ann Patterson Herren of Bernice, sister; Margie Rivers and husband Bill of Boyce, LA.; brothers: Allen Herren and wife Tommie of Dubach; Frank Herren and wife Tommie of Homer and Wayne Herren and wife Nelda of Vienna; sister-in-law, Sadie Hall and husband W.C. of Metarie and Mildred Herren of Ruston; and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were his nephews. Honorary Pallbearers were: the Deacons of Pine Grove Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Pine Grove Cemetery Fund or Pine Grove Pavillion Fund.
