All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ************************************************ ================================================================================= Obituary of Jessie Pauline Jenkins Carroll, former resident of Union Parish Louisiana Ruston Daily Leader, issue of 15 February 2004 ================================================================================== Jessie Pauline Jenkins Carroll, retired school teacher and homemaker died Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at Leslie Lakes Retirement Center (in Arcadia). Mrs. Carroll was born Dec. 7, 1900, to William Whitehead and Wessie Floy Gipson in Pelahatchie, Mississippi. Aunt Polly was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carl Carroll of Marion, LA., and her only child, a son, Courtney Lane. As well by her brother, James Greenberry Jenkins, sisters Emma Cornelia Jenkins Calhoun, Mable Jenkins Sanderson, Nancy Melinda (Lynn) Jenkins Woodard, her niece, Annie Merle Jenkins Hogan, and her nephew, James Alton Jenkins. Aunt Polly is fondly remembered by numerous great nieces and nephews. She is survived by one sister, Ruth Jenkins Beard of Arcadia. There were also nieces, Billie June Sanderson Holt of Austin, Texas, Gloria Dawn Sanderson, of Tomball, Texas, Joycalyn Ann Beard Skinner, and Mell Rose Woodard Storey, both of Arcadia. There were likewise nephews, Alton Calhoun of West Monroe, and Jack Calhoun, of Houston, Texas. Aunt Polly endeared herself to her nieces and nephews, particularly by the loving care she gave to her young son, Courtney Lane, in the brief years of his life. She made her home in Marion before moving to Arcadia about 20 years ago. A commitment service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday afternoon, in Rose-Neath Chapel, with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. Interment will be in the Alabama Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Sibley, LA. directly following. Reverend Lamar Skinner will officiate. John 14:3 "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself, that where I am, you may be also." ======================================================== Note: Pauline was the second wife of Albert Carlton Carroll (1891 - 1961). Carl was a lifelong resident of Marion and is buried in Union-Sadie Cemetery. He married his first wife Addie Burns (c1895 - 1926, buried Union-Sadie Cemetery) in 1913 and they had four children: A. Lavelle Carroll (b. about 1915); Mary F. Carroll (b. 1917-d. 1988 in Marion), married Gordon H. Day in 1940; James V. Carroll (1920 - 2002 in Jefferson Parish), married Eloise Mayeauz in 1944; and Konia Carroll (b. about 1923), married unknown Houser. Carl and Pauline married in 1928 and had only one child Courtney Lane Carroll (b. 1930-d. 1941 in Union Parish). ##########################################################
