Union Co., AR Marriage Book X, Page 243 State of Arkansas, County of Union, Marriage Affidavit In the Office of the Clerk of the County Court of said County, Hosea McAdams of the County of Union and State of Arkansas, being duly sworn, deposes and says that he is the same person who has this day applied to me for License of Marriage, and that he has arrived at the age of 28 years, and that Miss Mary McGarrity has arrived at the age of 19 years; and that they, the parties for who said application is made, are now single and unmarried, and may lawfully contract and be joined in marriage. Tatum Clerk of the County Court State of Arkansas, County of Union, Bond for Marriage License KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS, That we, Hosea McAdams, as Principal and Earl Nash, as Secuity, are held and firmly bound unto the State of Arkansas, for the use and benefit of the Common School Fund of Union County, in the penal sum of One Hundred Dollars, for the payment of which, well adn truly be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators, firmly by these presents. Signed this 22nd day of Nov., A. D. 1919 THE CONDITION of the above obligation is such that, whereas, the above bounden Hosea McAdams has this day applied to the Clerk of the County Court of Union County, for a License authorizing this soleminization of the Rite of Matrimony between the said Hosea McAdams and Miss Mary McGarrity. Now, If the said parties applying for said license have a lawful right to the same, and if they shall faithfully carry into effect and comply with the provisions thereof, and shall, within sixty days from the date hereof, return the said license to the office of the Clerk of the County Court of said county, duly exeuted and officially signed by some one authorized by law to solemnize the Rite of Matrimony, then this obligation shall be void; but otherwise to remain in full force and virtue. Tatum, Clerk Note: Hosea McAdams was born December 11, 1892 in Union Parish, LA and died January 5, 1963 in the VA Hospital, Shreveport, LA. He is buried in Caanan Cemetery, Union Parish, LA. Hosea was the son of David Jamison and Elizabeth Drury McAdams. Mary Elizabeth McGarity was born July 9, 1904 in Union Parish, LA and died April 22, 1994 in West Feliciana Parish Hospital, St. Francisville, LA. She is buried in Caanan Cemetery, Union Parish, LA. Mary was the daughter of John Richard and Nancy Ann Franklin McGarity. Notice that the marriage document states that she was 19 years old when they got married. Mary was only 15 years old when they got married. Hosea was shipping off to fight in WWII and was afraid he would not make it back. He wanted to be sure Mary was taken care of if something happened to him. # # #
