SOLOMON WISE Abbeville, LA Solomon Wise was born in Russia, May 26, 1824. He emigrated to America in 1854, locating, at Perry's Bridge, Vermilion parish, Louisiana,where he became all itinerant merchant in the dry goods line. In 1859 he located in Abbeville and opened a store with a stock of general merchandise. In this business he has continued until the presenttime. Mr. Wise came to Vermilion parish when it was sparsely settled and has been largely instrumental in building up the country. He is very successful in his business affairs. Beginning with a very small capital he has added to it until now he is the most extensive dealer and the largest business man in the town of Abbeville. His stock of general merchandise is worth fifteen thousand dollars. He has also two thousand acres of land, besides a sugar plantation of about seventeen hundred acres. He owns a residence and business property in Abbeville assessed at forty thousand dollars. He was married in Europe before he came to America, in 1849, to Miss Fanny Truskalaski. To them have been born four chlidlren, two sons and two daughters, viz: Anna, wife of J. A. Bergman; Isaac, Harriet, wife of L. Sakaloski; Eli.
