Ä Among the early physicians of Vermilion parish who have passed from the stage of action may be mentioned Doctors Wm. Mills, Wm. R. Mudd, John Chevis, Henry T. Chevis, R. J. Epperson, F. D. Young, H. Abadie, T. T. Solon and Doctor Dabrun. These pioneer physicians of the parish have gone to that land where there is no sickness, nor disease, nor death. The present "medicine men" are Doctors W. D. White, W. G. Kibbe, F.F. Young, R. J. Young, C. J. Edwards, J. F. Hamlet (lives at Perry's Bridge), J. T. Abadie, P. L. LeBlanc (lives in the country). E. Tillie, Joseph A. Villien, M. R. Cushman and J. B. Ramsey all live in the country. The Vermilion Medical Society was organized in 1887 and holds quarterly meetings. To become members of the society, physicians must be regularly graduated from a regular medical college, and in good standing. Doctor J.T. Abshire is at present president of the society. Doctor W. D. White was one of the prime movers in organizing the society and was its first president.
