Philippe Destroismaisons said Picard, son of Adrien, came from France to Quebec, and married Martine Crosnier, 11-18-1669 in Château-Richer near of Quebec City. He had many descendants Picard in Quebec and USA. Maybe an other one Destroismaisons could came in Acadia, to be deported in Louisiana like Francois Desgraviers-Marceaux and Pelagie Dartes ancesters of Marceaux in Louisiana. Good luck ! His name was Joseph Theodore Mayer. They say he was born in Menominee, Michigan and he had the following siblings; Louis, Bert, Ovide, Moise, Theophile and Matilde. There may have been others, I don't know. They moved from Michigan to Manitoba, Canada sometime after 1900..... Their name was changed to Meilleur by someone in an official capacity and I suspect that it may have been changed prior to that at least once. The family is French and if the examples of name changes among French families is any indication, I suspect that in this case it was no different. It certainly makes life interesting at the very least. It is not surprising that this family has no idea of their roots. If anyone has the tiniest piece of information, I would be eager to hear it. Also does anyone know where census records can be found for the Northern part of Michigan? Thanks! Maximilien Trahan and Marie Olive Landry were married on Feb. 23, 1835; as recorded in Laf. Chr. Record v. 2, p. 185 His parents were Joseph Trahan, married to Anastasie Landry. I believe her father was Maximilien Landry, and her mother was Marie Domitille Thibodeaux. There are excellent sources of Landry family information. If you would care to take the time, get on the internet and seek out Landry family web pages, and then contact a Landry doing genealogy. I have additional info if you so desire. Also, my mother was a Guillory, from Plaucheville. Marie Celina Landry Author: Raymond Desormeaux Date: 24 Jul 2000 12:00 PM GMT Surnames: Landry, Desormeaux, Romero, Richard, Derouen To my Landry & Romero genealogy friends, and in particular -those in Vermilion Parish: For thirty-five (35) years I have attempted to verify information on Marie Celina (Selina?) Landry. My records indicate that she married as follows: 1. Desire Romero, m. circa 1860 (he deceased before 1865) 2. Washington Derouen, m. Oct.15,1868;(died Feb. 26,1871) 3. Anatole DesOrmeaux, m. Jan.19,1874;(died Jan. 10,1877) 4. Joseph Richard, m.Oct.31,1881; My information, which may not be correct, lists Celina's parents as Jean Darcourt Landry and Marcelite Dore. If this info is correct, the parents of Marcelite Dore were Francis Dore and Josephe Marie Hulin. I am unsure about Jean Darcourt Landry, but if he is her father, then he may have been the son of Joseph Darcour Landry and Marie LeNormand. Marie Celina Landry may have been born circa 1840. I have conflicting information; and all of my research has been futile. Only Landry & Romero family ancestors with Celina as an ancestor would have correct information. I would like to confirm her birth date, parents, date she deceased and place of burial. Since my Desormeaux family genealogy records have been used by many of my Desormeaux family genealogy friends, Desormeaux genealogy keepers should respond only if you have discovered information that is different than the info I listed above. Thanks to all who reply.E. R. DesOrmeaux, P.E. The Schexnayder/Schexnaydre Family of Louisiana Author: Jay Schexnaydre Date: 22 Jul 2000 12:00 PM GMT Surnames: Schexnayder, Schexnaydre, Schexnailder, Schexnaildre, Schexnaider, Schexnaidre, Schexnyder, Schexnydre, Schexneyder, Schexneydre, Schexnider, Schexnidre I am collecting genealogical information on the Schexnaydre, Schexnayder, Schexnailder, Schexnaildre, Schexnyder, Schexnaider, Shexnidre, ________ (fill in your version) families. These families are descendants of Heinrich Albert Schexnaydre who was a native of Brussels, Belgium and came to the German Coast (St. Charles Parish) Louisiana in the early 1700s. There are probably over 100 different variations of the name found in records today; however, all Schexnaydres can trace their common ancestor to Heinrich (Henry) Albert Schexnaydre and are therefore actually ONE family. Also the surname of Albert was also used in some early records. Most of the descendants today still live in South Louisiana (particularly in the River Parishes between New Orleans & Baton Rouge) but the descendants can be found nationwide and are quite numerous. Another large branch of the family moved westward into Southwest Louisiana in the “Acadiana” region. My attempt is to publish a book on this family and this is by no means a small task. I welcome any help, tips, information, resources, or contacts that you may be able to provide. I have already received some information from some branches of our family, but I need as many as possible to help my research. I would like to include everyone born with the Schexnayder/Schexnaydre/etc. name and their children. I am a member of the German-Acadian Coast Historical & Genealogical Society. If your last name is Schexnaydre, Schexnayder, Schexnaildre, Schexnaider, etc...(or if you're related to one) Please e-mail me at jayschexnaydre@att.net , I want to hear from YOU! I see Ambroise and Marie in the 1850 Vermilion Parish, Louisiana, USA census. I know that Marie remarried in Sept. 1854 to Silvestre Manceaux of Vermilion Parish at St. Mary Madgaleine Church in Abbeville. Record shows that she was a widow. Ambroise was born 4/4/1816. That would indicate that Ambroise would have died between the age of 34 to 38 years old.
