Abbeville Meridional of February 24, 1912: "Judge Hall and Senator Gueydan arrived in Abbeville last Saturday from Bay View Club on Vermilion Bay, Vermilion parish, where they spent ten days on a fishing and hunting trip. Gov-elect Hall and Senator Gueydan left New Orleans Thursday Feb. 8, and went direct to Gueydan. That night Judge Hall made his first speech since his election at the Gueydan high school. The following day, Friday, Judge Hall and party were shown the reclamation works south of Gueydan by C.D. Babbitt, civil engineer in charge, and Judge Hall was greatly impressed with the work of reclaiming marsh lands. J. Zack spearing, campaign manager, joined the party at Gueydan Friday morning. Saturday morning Dr. and Mrs. White, and Dr. and Mrs. C.E. Phillips, together with Judge Hall and Senator Gueydan, took the train to Abbeville, where they were entertained by Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Nettles, and the trip to Bayview Club was undertaken from there. The fishing was not good said Senator Gueydan, owning to the season, nor was the party successful at hunting. A trip was taken to Southwest Pass and some of the party landed at Marsh Island. Another trip taken up Schooner Bayou through the Intercostal (sic) canal into White Lake. Still another trip was taken to Weeks' Island to inspect the salt mines and Judge Hall is much rested after the ten days' recreation, and is now on his way to his home in Monroe." Ken Dupuy
